Local resident creates Earthcare game Shop online: https://www.earthcaregame.org/ EARTHCARE game is a fun way to explore the many ways we can care for the earth, connect with nature and help conserve the planet's resources. Take small steps to save the planet and earn points. Make a mess, waste energy or water and lose points. Lisa Wriley is the president and founding member of the Kariong Eco Garden since 2005 that has been providing the local community with knowledge and resources to care for the environment and to becoming more sustainable. Passionate about her role as an environmental campaigner and educator, Ms Wriley has launched ‘Earthcare’– a board game that aims to teach as much as it aims to entertain. “It looks like a Monopoly board game in terms of format, though it is really about exploring ways to care for the Earth, conserve resources, and to connect with nature. I started making the game a couple of years ago based on a New Zealand board game called ‘Conservation’. I have updated and re-invented it in ‘Earthcare’ – with the creator’s permission of course!” “The beauty is that it can be played competitively or collaboratively to see what choices can be made to score the highest points.” Member for Gosford, Liesl Tesch, is excited to try out the game herself, acknowledging the important message behind it as an educational tool and congratulates Ms Wriley on her efforts to raise awareness about an important issue through a way that is as fun as it is informative. Ms Wriley says that a number of local businesses have been involved in Earthcare’smanufacture, sourcingmaterials and expertise from businesses in Somersby, Terrigal, North Wyong and Berkeley Vale to name a few. “We have a hard board game version and also a cloth version that is back-pack friendly and can travel anywhere.”
