THE MIELE TWOINONE Elegance and flexibility for modern kitchens M iele presents a new approach to kitchen design, combining advanced induction cooking technology with an integrated downdraught extractor. This new appliance allows unobstructed views, making it ideal for open-plan kitchens where overhead cabinets or conventional rangehoods may detract from the overall architectural design. On the 80 cm wide cooktop unit, the central extractor is framed by two variable PowerFlex zones. This allows the extractor to remove vapours and odours, reliably and precisely, where they originate allowing recirculation or vented extraction.
For optimum grease separation, the TwoInOne features a 10-ply stainless-steel grease filter, housed in a practical filter box. This can be removed easily and placed in a dishwasher for cleaning. Miele’s CleanCover is located behind the grease filters and constitutes a smooth lining which is both easy to clean and protects against exposure to moving parts. Any spillovers are contained by a tray below the extractor grille. The Eco Motor used in the downdraught extractor is powerful, energy-efficient and quiet. Technical components are housed in the base unit and take up relatively little space, maximising the retention of useful storage space in the base unit. Installed in a flush or proud-mount configuration, the Miele TwoInOne is available for an introductory selling price of $5,799 from Harvey Norman, Good Guys & Domayne.
PowerFlex technology is exceptionally versatile, as pots and frying pans with a variety of diameters can be used. It is also possible for two individual rings to join up automatically when large pots or pans are placed on the surface. In addition, TwinBooster mode is ideal for bringing a large volume of water to the boil in next to no time, while the food-warming and Stop & Go functions ensure additional convenience. The TwoInOne features touch controls for both the cooking zones and the extractor. However, in practice, there will be a tendency to rely on the extractor’s automatic controls, made possible by Miele’s unique Con@ctivity function. This function automatically adjusts the power output of the extractor to the cooktop settings. At the end of cooking and after a brief fan run-on period, the extractor automatically switches itself off again.
