ESCAPE - TO THE GALLERY, TEA GARDENS Y ou’re all invited to drop into Tea Gardens’ latest attraction - a lovely art gallery called ‘The Gallery’ within a rejuvenated landmark cottage. Set in a lush garden opposite the banks of the Myall River, with restaurants and cafes nearby, it is well worth a visit and just over an hour’s drive north of the Central Coast. The twin towns of Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest are known as an artists’ enclave and for the non-profit community arts group Galleries in the Gardens, Inc (GIG) for which The Gallery is home. Aside from attracting a lot of positive comment for the quality and variety of GIG artworks inside, The Gallery was recently officially acknowledged in the NSW Parliament as an example of outstanding community activity! Latest artworks are on display – a host of fabulous gift ideas and finishing touches for your home, including small and large artworks, gift cards, jewellery, scarves, photography and sculptures. Wednesday mornings are for ArtSpeak which is open to not just GIG members but anyone feeling arty. These gatherings are designed to foster friendships between ‘like
minds’, sharing knowledge and learning while working on your own art. Special exhibitions also run routinely at The Gallery. The Gallery is open 10am to 4pm every day except Tuesday and Christmas Day, at 81 Marine Drive, Tea Gardens. It’s a flat, three-minute walk from the Tea Gardens ferry wharf and is wheelchair accessible.
