New gallery celebrating local artists

Local art gallery ‘The Public’ opened its doors to the community last month celebrating local artists and making their artwork accessible to all. Jennifer Jamieson, the founder of both the gallery and pottery workshop Centred Ceramics in Umina Beach, is excited to showcase these pieces to bring to light the variety of great talent on the Central Coast. “I wanted to make creativity accessible. going to be predominantly showing local artists which is really exciting because I believe that the arts and artists have a really valuable place in culture and community, and I wanted to contribute to a greater appreciation for artists,” Mrs Jamieson says. Member for Gosford, Liesl Tesch, celebrates the opening of the new gallery, saying it will be a valuable addition to the growing arts and culture scene on the Central Coast. “’The Public’ is a sign of greater recognition and celebration of all the incredible artists we have here on the Central Coast. It is fantastic to see truly unique artworks are being made available to the public.” Ms Jamieson says that the gallery will host month-long exhibitions, with the first Friday of each month welcoming a new collection. “I think people in our community would love to have more access to local artists, and we intend to offer these pieces at a range of price points so that owning art is something that is accessible.” ‘The Public’ is located at 250 West St Umina Beach, next to Centred Ceramics which also offers pottery classes, workshops, and ‘Wine and Clay’ evenings each Friday.
