Central Coast Home and Lifestyle Spring 2022
There's no place like home. W ith an ageing population upon us, living with independence in your own home has never been more important than it is now. Even if you (or a loved one) could benefit from only a little support, getting some help at home can go a long way to improving your quality of life. The Federal Government helps Australians aged 65 and over (50 or over for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples) with funding programs for in-home services to help people live their best lives in their homes and communities. The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is designed for those needing a little support at home. It's an entry level program, and most people who receive CHSP funding might only need one or two services to help them stay independent. The CHSP also includes funding for respite services to give carers a break. A Home Care Package (HCP) is the next step. It's for people with more complex care needs or who require help with more everyday tasks. Services include personal care, nursing (to monitor medical conditions), allied health (physiotherapy etc.), meal and food preparation, domestic help, home and garden maintenance, home modifications (small changes to help keep you safe at home) and much more, including respite services.
