have we made? What changes
Infinite Aged Care
In July 2022 Infinite Care added three residential aged care facilities through NSW. We knew there were a lot of changes to be made, and more interaction with the community was one of them. That’s why we’ve introduced Intergenerational events, activities and ongoing programs. It’s just one of the many changes we’re working on, because we know conncection and community are vital for wellbeing... and intergenerational play is beneficial to the young and the young at heart! infin8care.com.au 1800 463 468 | Padstow, Padstow Heights, Wyoming |
Spring blooms will offer fragrance as well as beauty. T here’s nothing like seeing the growth of leaves appearing on the trees, witnessing beautiful buds that are starting to bloom and let’s not forget getting our hands in the soil to plant everything we’ve been dreaming about all winter long. From inspiration, experimentation, and enjoyment, we’re excited to focus on our home decoration especially when it comes to the great outdoors. When we think about spring garden design ideas, we think of colourful and impressive flowers, so vivid in colour. We also think of the landscaping that surrounds our garden to improve the overall mood and gives our garden a pleasant background that makes our flowers pop. The arrival of spring brings joy to all, with warmer weather, longer days, and, of course, all those beautiful flowers coming into bloom. What better way to embrace the turning of the seasons than to get outside and transform your yard into a haven. Now is the perfect time to update your outdoor living space and get inspired to do a little sprucing up and if you've got an abundance growing outdoors, why not snip a few to brighten your interior, too? Arranging flowers is wonderfully therapeutic and can truly transform a room.

Natural Light in your home U sing natural light in your home creates a welcoming and warm atmosphere in any room of the home, but it also has some other great benefits. With natural light in your home and the warmth that comes from the sun in some of the rooms of your home, you’ll save significant energy and reduce your energy bill. Energy efficient windows and skylights are also a great way to save money on utility costs and do a great job in reducing energy usage. Picture windows are a great energy efficient option as these are fixed, non-opening windows that allow wonderful light to pour in throughout each day. There’s nothing nicer than sitting back in a warm and sunny spot in your living room in your favourite chair. Utilizing the sun’s position at home can help keep it comfortable, no matter what the season is outside. Learn how the sun is positioned throughout the day so you can maximize and control the daylight effectively. During the cooler months, keep your curtains open so you can use the heat from the light. During the warmer months, keep the blinds cracked or closed so the direct sunlight doesn’t overheat your space. Bay windows are great windows that can help you relax, because they usually have three large windows encased by a lovely bench or seating area.

ChromeFest at The Entrance, 27-29 October
T he Central Coast is putting the peddle to the metal to host one of Australia’s biggest car shows. ChromeFest is inviting all classic show car owners of all makes and models pre 1979 to register their car to showcase their prized possession at this year’s ChromeFest 2023 event. Council Unit Manager Community and Culture, Glenn Cannard said that no car show compares to the Central Coast’s home-grown ChromeFest where hundreds of car enthusiasts, rock ‘n’ roll fans - including an Elvis cameo - come together for a three-day tribute to classic cars and everything 1950s and 60s. “This year we’ve opened up ChromeFest car registrations to show car owners of all makes and models pre 1979 with a passion for car shining, and who have poured their blood sweat and tears into restoring their cars to deliver a work of art, ensuring a bigger and better event,” Mr Cannard said. Show car registrations are open now until Monday 23 October or until zone allocations are exhausted, so don’t miss out on securing a spot for your unique ride. Mr Cannard said the ChromeFest weekend, in the past, has attracted over 50,000 visitors, so planning is important for car show entrants. “We encourage bookings for accommodation for participating car owners, general car enthusiasts and visitors to the Central Coast, to be made early. “This is also an event for everyone, and we invite locals and visitors to partake in a fun weekend that offers something for everyone.” ChromeFest highlights include Show N’Shine and iconic classic car displays, Retro market stalls, trade stalls and general market stalls, four outdoor stages boasting undercover dancefloors and live entertainment, Vintage glamour fashion parade, The Australian Pin Up Pageant NSW Grand finale, The Entrance Hotel Hub, Roving entertainment, POP up DJ, Paint N Chrome workshops, ChromeFest Walk of Fame - new area located in the Bayview Mall and Short Street Carpark.
Council Administrator Rik Hart said, “You can’t help but enjoy this nostalgic event with a walk down memory lane and soaking up the atmosphere at the outstanding cafes, restaurants and bars throughout The Entrance over the ChromeFest weekend,” Mr Hart said. ChromeFest is a free three-day event – Friday 27 October to Sunday 29 October – held at The Entrance and presented by Central Coast Council, with support from a range of sponsors. Car owners wishing to register their vehicle should visit chromefest.org for all information on eligibility and to register. How to Get a Cat to Drink Water G etting your cat to drink more water can be tricky. You may have to experiment until you find something she likes. Choose the Right Water Bowl: If your cat’s current water bowl is deep and narrow, it may touch her whiskers, which is uncomfortable. Try switching your cat’s water bowl to a wider, shallower dish with a smaller lip to see if she drinks more. Place it in the Right Location: Although it’s tempting to stick your cat’s food and water bowls in an out-of-the-way area, cats don’t like being boxed into a corner. They prefer locations where they can see their surroundings with a quick glance and don’t have to worry about anyone sneaking up behind them. See if moving her water bowl to a new location helps. Keep it Fresh: The longer water sits, the more particles it collects. Dust, dirt, hair and more can all collect in your cat’s water bowl, making her less inclined to drink from it. Put fresh water in her bowl one to two times a day. Try a Cat Water Fountain: Cats love running water and there are many theories why. It may also appeal to more of their senses, as they can see it move, hear the sound it makes and even taste a difference. A cat water fountain can make drinking water more exciting and pleasurable for your kitty. Add Wet Cat Food to Her Diet: Water isn’t the only way to keep your cat hydrated. If you’ve tried all the above and she’s still not drinking enough, try hydrating with wet cat food or broths. Although it can’t replace water altogether, supplementing with wet food can help increase her overall water intake to help prevent dehydration.
Mental exercise for dogs M ost dog owners are familiar with the importance of exercise when it comes to keeping a dog fit, lean and healthy. But many are unaware that exercise benefits more than just the physical body. Keeping your dog in good physical shape and feeding her a good diet ensure overall good health, which contributes to mental well-being. However, what’s less well-known is that dogs need specific mental exercise, too. Many dogs are primarily companion animals, at most going for walks once or twice a day and playing in the back yard. Often, there are not enough challenges coming their way, both physically and mentally. Underactivity and boredom can contribute to destructive behaviours such as chewing, house soiling, excessive barking, and other anxiety-based behaviours. On the other hand, dogs that are engaged and have ‘jobs’ to do, tend to be healthier and happier. While every dog’s specific needs are unique, all dogs need daily physical and mental stimulation through plenty of walks, great toys, and fun games. Giving your dog’s mind a workout will improve your relationship with her and is probably easier and more fun than you might think. Basically, any activity that is novel or challenging will stimulate your dog’s cognitive abilities. Training, toys, games, long lasting dog chews, and dog sports can all be used to give your dog’s brain a regular workout.

Light up your life! L ight plays an incredible role when it comes to the look, feel, and ambiance in your home. There are lots of dramatic, unique, and striking, one-of-a kind solutions, which are ideal for those who want to make a huge style statement. Nevertheless, if you would prefer something more understated, why not go for simple flush lights or classic pendant lights? Pendant lights are a great way to add style and personality to your home. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colours, so you can find the perfect one for any room. Pendant lights are popular for several reasons. They can be used to accentuate a particular area in a room, are great for task lighting above work areas like a kitchen island or can be used as a show stopping primary feature of a space. Attractive lighting can make your home look more stylish and brighten your mood. We all want our homes to look amazing, and choosing the right lighting is a big part of accomplishing that seemingly simple goal.

A rt collectors on the Central Coast are constantly on the lookout for fresh, innovative styles of art which add a unique touch to their collections. Right now, emotive original art is what collectors need. Aesthetic trends remain bright, contemporary, and often with a coastal influence - but these must also come with an emotive sense of story and mood. At KAB Gallery, this is fuelling the penchant for interesting one-of-a-kind artworks to love and enjoy. The current must-have artworks are all incredibly expressive and emotive, but above all cohesive. Buyers want more than just adding a splash of colour on a basic canvas to their room. Instead, they are seeking strong texture, works which attract the eye with colour, and works allowing you to almost feel the emotion behind the artist’s brush. Pieces which corner one’s mood and subjects that evoke a sense of story and experiences are also in demand right now. Above all else there is a desire for quality art which has been planned and considered by a great artist – the composition alone should tell us this. The emotive power of a feature artwork in a home can bring sense of comfort that no other interior item can. You can purchase art in a variety of forms and styles, but the key is to find a piece that sparks an emotional bond with you. In turn, you can hang an artwork in your home that projects a reflection of your own feelings, ideals, and experiences. Art is the perfect medium for any interior conscious art collector to use for creating a sense of personality and character. Art with a coastal influence
quality art by professionally represented artists, who showing promise within the art market. In my opinion, emotive original art is an excellent investment because while you can immediately enjoy a return on your investment by enjoying it on your wall, you can also hold onto it as a long-term investment. At KAB Gallery Terrigal we take a contemporary and practical approach to selling collectable artworks in our physical and virtual gallery spaces. KAB Gallery is the culmination of my lifelong passion for art, along with education and career spent learning everything there is to know about collecting, investing in, valuing, restoring and selling art. With a focus on Australian collectable art and exciting contemporaries, you can feel confident that all items available at KAB Gallery are quality works that I have carefully vetted for exhibition. Further to this, there is an added shift towards art which also brings a financial advantage. When discussing art at my KAB Gallery Terrigal, conversations often extend well beyond the appreciation for the beauty and creativity that art brings through to the investment potential of the pieces they are buying. The current trend for art buyers on the Central Coast is no longer only focused on the enhancement and aesthetic appeal but also the investment. Owning original artworks has become more accessible and affordable in recent years, and it’s no longer just reserved for gallery owners and specialist collectors. More people are starting their own art collection on a budget, and creating their own personal collection at home is a satisfying way to spend their well earned cash. As an experienced art collector and art gallery director myself, I know that art is a great investment. With the vast array of contemporary art available on the market right now, it is important to ensure you are considering

What is the best - Bamboo, timber, or laminate flooring?
E ach has its advantages, and your choice will depend on what you are looking to achieve. For some it is a quick revamp prior to selling a property; for some durability to survive beach sand, children, and pets; for others it is a stylish finish to their new home. Our comprehensive ranges make choosing the right flooring for your project simple, and our knowledgeable and experienced staff will help you choose the floor that will be best for you. So, what are the qualities of each option? Laminate flooring - refers to flooring that is made of basically the same material as a kitchen bench top but is substantially harder. It is extremely resistant to scuffing and scratching and has a very high resistance to impact damage. Options range from budget 7mm boards to 12mm realistic Aussie colours such as Blackbutt, Spotted Gum & Merbau. Engineered timber - is available in a wide range of species, including Australian managed-forest hardwood species such as Blackbutt, Spotted Gum, Sydney Blue Gum, Tasmanian Oak, as well as plantation sourced species like European Oaks, Merbau, American Oak. Having a ‘dress’ layer of timber allows the floor to be sanded back several times in years to come. The product is extremely dimensionally stable (doesn’t warp or
twist) and can be laid immediately. Strand woven Bamboo Flooring - is created by compressing slivers of bamboo under high pressure to form a material that has the highest resistance to impact damage of any flooring in Australia. The flooring is then finished with 6 layers of Treffert coating, giving a highly durable surface resistant to household and commercial traffic. It is available in a semi-gloss or matt finish, and comes in 10 different decorator colours, from Limewash White to Wenge Black, and everything in between. We we’ll give you a thorough explanation of which floors are most suitable for your specific project. Our knowledgeable and experienced staff can show you our comprehensive collection of quality oak, timber, and laminate floors to choose from based on specific colours, wood species, dimensions or any other characteristic needed to complete your project with ease. Drop into the showroom for free advice, quotes, and samples. We will arrange for qualified, experienced, and insured installers to lay your floor, if you prefer or we can package all you will need to install your floor yourself. Resort style living at home with outdoor day beds G arden furniture is often an afterthought when it comes to home design and decorating, but it can be just as important as indoor furnishings. In fact, good outdoor furniture can make all the difference in turning an outdoor space into a comfortable area that functions as an extension of your home. There are many kinds of furniture available on the market today, so you're sure to find something that perfectly suits your needs and style at your local outdoor furniture specialists. Experience the outdoors with exceptional comfort and quality and turn your backyard into an amazing outdoor living space with a comfortable day bed that features a canopy to protect you from the harsh sunlight. The perfect companion if you want to enjoy the warmer weather and relax on your deck, in the garden or near the pool. Obviously, style is a factor when choosing outdoor furniture. Daybed options include canopy style, round or classic. You can find the design that best suits your needs. Daybeds are generally quite large pieces of furniture so be sure to measure your space and know it will fit nicely where you would like it to be. Due to the size, an outdoor daybed will become a focal point for your outdoor area. Even when tucked away from the general seating area, people’s eyes are drawn to the decadence of a daybed. You will be the envy of all when they see the resort-style luxury you have created in your own backyard! You may wish to complement the luxury of your daybed with additional furniture to allow for entertaining.

Hospital emergency departments regularly give intravenous (IV) NAC to people with an acetaminophen (paracetamol) overdose to prevent kidney and liver damage or failure. Biofilms & infections Infections persist and become chronic because microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, and fungi) make themselves a protective external layer called a biofilm. Though relatively unknown, these microorganisms survive and hide in body cavities and surfaces through the formation of biofilms. The most successful persistent forms of life on earth are considered to be biofilms. Biofilms are microbial communities surrounded by a layer of mucus like material, in turn making it difficult for the immune system to fight them. Biofilms are resistant to antiviral and antibacterial drugs and to the typical immune defences of the infected individual. Certain viruses form complex biofilm like structures, similar to bacterial biofilms. These structures then protect viruses from the immune system and enable them to spread more easily from cell to cell. Viral biofilms are likely to be a major method of propagation for some viruses. As an example, by removing the viral biofilm from the surface of the infected cells, researchers achieved an 80% reduction in infection rates of the retrovirus HTLV-1. NAC has been extensively researched for its proven effectiveness in inhibiting biofilm formation and in destroying developed biofilms . Studies confirm a role for NAC in the treatment of biofilms, with corresponding excellent safety and efficacy . NAC has further demonstrated the ability to combat persistent antibiotic resistant bacterial infections by dissolving the biofilm matrix. NAC has also been shown to help the body fight viral infections and to inhibit the replication of seasonal human influenza A viruses. Drug resistant chronic or recurrent infections such as Helicobacter Pylori, sinusitis, middle ear infections, bronchiectasis, gastrointestinal, and urinary tract infections etc, usually have well developed biofilms. Biofilm protected bacteria can be up to a thousand times more resistant to treatment and the host's own immune defences Most refractory infections THE EXPERT ask
BY GEOFF GARLINGE
Q: I’ve been struggling lately with constant infections and recommended NAC. Please explain what it actually is, why many people now take it for their immune system especially since COVID-19 and what its actual benefits are. A: NAC is a special form of the amino acid Cysteine and the precursor for Glutathione (GSH). Glutathione is the most powerful antioxidant in the body and essential to protect, detoxify + repair our cells . NAC increases production of glutathione in the body. Many studies confirm GSH is crucial for liver health, improving insulin sensitivity, immune function & much more. On the World Health Organisation’s List of Essential Medicines, NAC has an established proven safety record in both adults & children as a rare FDA approved natural substance since 1963. NAC is used extensively in clinical medicine as a mucolytic agent ( to clear up mucus ), for respiratory infections and sinusitis . It is employed to treat a range of lung diseases such as COPD, bronchiectasis, chronic bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, and pulmonary fibrosis. It may also be used as a stand alone or in combination with antibiotics or herbal antimicrobial agents such Bactoclear in the treatment of some chronic infections . Boosting glutathione levels with NAC increases the body’s cellular protection from damage caused by fatty accumulation , viral infections , toxic chemicals , drug induced damage , as well as auto-immune inflammation . Glutathione restores your cells’ ability to detoxify and fight damage from free radicals known as reactive oxygen species. Ignited by NAC, Glutathione helps the liver to protect against toxicity where liver compromise/ disease is present & for people exposed to heavy metals or toxic chemicals. Researchers are now realising how vital glutathione’s actions in the body are and the array of chronic disease conditions are associated with GSH deficiency. According to Stanford University’s Dr. Kondala R. Atkuri, “ NAC has been used successfully to treat glutathione deficiency in a wide range of infections and metabolic disorders , including HIV infection and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Over two thirds of 46 placebo-controlled clinical trials with orally administered NAC have indicated beneficial effects of NAC measured either as trial endpoints or as general measures of improvement in quality of life and well-being of the patients.” NAC neutralises toxins and pollutants including heavy metals that accumulate in the brain, liver, kidneys, and fatty parts of the body. Via the process of chelation NAC increases the removal of toxic metal ions from the body. Basic Health Benefits of NAC • Boosts glutathione (GSH) reducing inflammation in the lungs and bronchial tubes. • Improves the body’s detoxification process. • Inhibits inflammation in the whole body (systemic inflammation).
(i.e., unresponsive to medical treatment) are attributable to biofilm colonies. Biofilm may spread into uninfected areas and the cycle repeats, thus worsening the infection. Natural substances that can disrupt biofilms • Propolis (Integrity & correct dosage is crucial for efficacy) • Berberine via Philadendrum in Bactoclear/ Glucopia • Ellagic acid (Maqui Berry, Organic Georgian Pomegranate Juice) • Proteolytic enzymes such as Papain (Immunozyme) • Cranberry for biofilms in UTIs (Organic Georgian Juice & Caps) • Oregano (Wild Oil/Caps or in Bactoclear) • Horseradish • Garlic (Australian Caps) and onions • NAC is the most powerful of all especially for old or mature biofilms NAC is underutilised as a therapeutic agent in chronic persistent infections that have previously resisted standard antimicrobial treatments where it offers great benefit. NAC & Selenium work together with Glutathione to continually protect our cells . Selenium acts in the body as an antioxidant which neutralizes toxic substances. Selenium is further required for antioxidant enzyme systems in the body to work efficiently, with the most important being glutathione. When it comes to successfully fighting any viral infection, it’s critical to have adequate amounts of total body selenium and the consequences of Selenium deficiency are: • Increased susceptibility to infections of all types, especially from viruses • Incurable warts • Increased risk of auto-immune disease & inflammation • Higher mortality rates from HIV (AIDS) • Higher morbidity rates from chronic viral hepatitis (types B & C) • Increased incidence of a range of cancers Absorption of NAC Bioavailability is always the crucial key to supplementation & here’s where NAC really delivers. Glutathione (GSH) is poorly absorbed via dietary intake from the gut, whereas oral NAC is far more efficient than GSH, with oral NAC as effective as intravenously administered NAC. Allergy prone individuals & those suffering with a peptic ulcer/heartburn/reflux should begin slowly with one 600mg capsule gradually increasing to 2 NAC capsules twice daily. NAC is ideal taken before meals with a large glass of water or Pure Juice as recommended. This avoids any potential digestive discomfort and is best not to be taken close to bedtime. While one NAC capsule daily can confer substantial benefits, 2x2 does work wonders for many. So it is a versatile powerful supplement & you will be well advised to as we say get the NAC !

HIFU - Skin lifting and tightening with natural results
T he latest HIFU Ultimate 4D System is the most advanced skin tightening technology currently available. This non-invasive, High Intensity Focused Ultrasound technology treatment stimulates your body’s natural collagen production and treatment has no cuts or stitches, no downtime or recovery time, and you can wear your make up after treatments. While HIFU is not a replacement for a surgical face lift, there are many people who want some lifting but are not ready for surgery. This new system lifts sagging skin, tightens loose skin, helps with facial contouring and slimming, smooths lines and wrinkles, refines pores and improves skin texture. This breakthrough technology is specifically designed to target accumulated fat in the form of eye puffiness, double chins, jowels, cheeks, jawline and neck, nasolabial fold, brows and foreheads and you will be amazed with the immediate, visible results. This will improve in the coming 3-6 months as your body produces collagen and elastin in the treated area. Treatments usually take between 15 and 90 minutes, depending on the areas and skin concerns being treated.
HIFU uses the safe, time-tested ultrasound, which has been effective in clinical studies in over 300,000 patient treatments worldwide. Ultrasound has been used safely in the medical field for over 50 years. HIFU (also called Ultherapy) is one of the few treatments, safe for all skin types, as it uses ultrasound and bypasses the upper layers of skin where the pigment cells are located. HIFU results are permanent and will continue improving gradually for up to six months following the treatment. ..After six months, as with any age defying treatment, your skin will naturally continue to age but HIFU can give you fresher, after your treatment. HIFU may cause some discomfort. Comfort levels can vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the energy is being delivered.
